Was planning to visit the Railway this weekend. Does anybody know which locomotives will be operating this week?

.... and on to the more serious stuff - after the Spam can visit, there's only one way to go - onwards and upwards! Has a Merchant Navy, A4 or Coronation pacific been booked for the next Gala yet?

They are all a bit quiet though. With Tenterden Bank something like a single chimney Jubilee, Black 5 or U Class (right area) surely.:D

Now there is a thought how about the single chimney 9f

Not sure if the chimney or the wheels would make more noise........

Towing four mk1's up the hill? It would hardly notice the load.

To get a decent bark, you need something that is all out to get up the hill. A real "regulator in the roof" job.

Seems to be ongoing for a long time, or this standard for insurance claims....

It often is, or at least that was what I found when I was at work. With one startling exception, I seem to remember when the B777 crashed at LHR due to the "slush puppy fuel" the insurers paid out on the hull in 3 days.

Mangled its valve gear at the Bluebell last summer during their Terrier gala.

Ivatt 2mt or a standard 2 are always great performers.

The last conversation I was in about those led me to believe they aren't powerful enough to do the job in poor conditions. We had the Severn Valley's Ivatt for a while years ago, but that was only hauling four coaches.

I am told that this is fairly standard where the claims are unusual.

Thats quite interesting- In my head the Ivatt 2-6-0 must be broadly similar to Norwegian?

Is that a power or adhesion problem? I have been really impressed when we have had a few runs with with 78022 at the KWVR, she seems to cope remarkably well with the stiff climb out of Keighley and up the valley- we had a run with her in thoroughly miserable conditions early this year and she made a brilliant sure footed getaway and climb up to Ingrow on Load 5- more so than many of the locos we have been hauled by- I remember a really difficult run with 45212 when we visited!
