Great news - didn't realise that you were so close.

Having completed the first year and about 1000 miles with 62 I know that you are going to enjoy 63 !

Any pics that you can point us to ?

    "Vulcan".

The first working party of 2012 took place on Sunday 15th January despite some very cold weather. The loco has been craned off its wheels and the frames and boiler are at the back of Barrow Hill Shed. The wheels are inside and have had their journals checked with a micrometer, these will need machining. The wheels and cab are being scraped clean and painted.

That exposed dome on the Barclay at Plym Valley needs covering up otherwise rain will get into the lagging corroding the boiler barrel.

Avonside 1563 has seen some progress in recent weeks at Foxfield. The wheels having had been away for tyre turning have been reunited with overhauled axleboxes and refurbished springs and the frames are now sitting on the wheels and mobile (with the aid of a pinch bar at present!).
The boiler is another matter as the firebox has been removed and looks like a giant cheese grater, definitely a case for a new one! Ah well, rust never sleeps!

Bagnall No. 2746 "The Duke" at Wirksworth has had its cab roof and saddle tank removed, we hope to make a serious start once the weather clears.

Heavy General Overhaul on Manning Wardle 1762 "Dolobran" is proceeding steadily with work being completed to a very high standard. No date for completion as many problems have been discovered during the course of the overhaul that have required additional work to rectify, such as the mis alignment of the replacement cylinder block installed at Corby, which has been re aligned during the course of the overhaul.

Heavy General Overhaul on Manning wardle 2009 "Rhyl" also proceeding but not so advanced as 1762. New footplating and valance angles fitted following repairs to the rear of the frame, new fabricated bunker and original repaired cab now assembled on the frame. Work on frame piping for braking systems and steam heat, and on overhaul of hornblocks, next priority.
