OK, here's one. Not all of those locos had been built by 1917!

Is NELPG's P3/J27 due back next year? Technically, as a 1923-built engine, NER liveryis inappropriate, but it certainly suited it when applied in the past. Unfortunately, BR black is well and truly entrenched in NELPG these days.

There is nothing wrong BR black and is realistic for the locomotives to wear. The other colours such as NER black and LNER black are basically the same shade of black as BR black. The only difference is the letter and numbering. So it should not be a problem. The BR lined black suits the K1 very well in my opinion.
76084 will heading back to the North Norfolk Railway in April for running at their Spring gala and during the summer season.

Yes, well, I normally have trouble remembering to write the new year correctly for quite a few weeks, but not normally the century....!

To put it another way, the major companies who will not be represented by an operating loco in their livery in 2017 include:
    LSWR
    LBSCR
    Midland
    LYR
    GCR
    GWR (pre-grouping)
I have excluded companies who have no, or only one or two "museum" survivors, e.g. the other Scottish companies.
I was also rather surprised that I could only think of one each in LMS and LNER liveries (the ELR Crab and the B12 respectively). But I didn't think about that for very long so may have forgotten some!

Well my design was thought about in 1983, I'm gonna be out and about in traffic for 2017 does that count?

    4MT 75078
S160 5820 - It's had some teething troubles last yr so didn't do much so hoping it'll get mire running days.

    WD 90733
    4F 43924
    Taff vale tank 85
    80002
    Coal tank 1704
Black 5 45212 back in use again & seems to have settled in nicely.

Bahamas is still quite a way off & 8F 48431 along with jinty 47279 are both stored awaiting overhaul.

Sorry my bad, completely forgot about 80002. Not a clue about bahamas, isn't it going back on the mainline too once completed?

Think besides what's already running atm the rest of the keighley fleet is stored or being overhauled at current. I think once 41241 is done their planning to overhaul some smaller locos according to the steam fleetlist page:

2999 should be in full GWR livery later in the year - it just wasn't built pre 1922.

I think on the whole the preservation movement prefers the term "stored" :(

Exactly, it is indeed very impressive. I think that a huge thank you should go out to all those people on the preserved lines (and on the main line as well, of course) who keep these machines going for our enjoyment. It just goes to show that we are very lucky in this country to have so many steam locos still working. It would be interesting to hear an American enthusiast's (for the sake of argument) - or are they called railfans over there? - views on British steam railway preservation.

We here in Canada have nothing on the main line and precious few actually working on preserved lines .....guess where I'm headed in July 2017 ...Southern England for my steam fix ......Yes I'm from the UK many years ago and was on the Bournemouth line in July 1967 .....We have nothing here to write home about .......

Think the GCRN have got 1 of the smallest steam fleets about. They've got:

8F 8274 - currently IIRC their only operational loco.

S160 - 1631, under restoration atm & seems to be progressing well & will suit the line well. Seems be a lot of them over here.

Only other locos are industrials majority of which are stored or waiting work to be done.

    Hello all,

Just to help with the Repton running comments. Heres a photo of the engine passing Cromwell on the NYMR, so dates the event nicely. http://www.blackhatrailwaypictures.co.uk/p246026302/h16fd437b#h16fd437b

While many are looking forward to seeing the engine return, the idea of it coming back in Southern Machalite Green (or whatever its called) I'd also say is in appropriate, given geography, where as at least BR Green tends to blend in more. However, its all paint and an engine in steam and while not a personal favourite (I've loved the recent haitus of lack of Southern engines running) I know a great many will be happy to see this engine and others return. I also have to note, that the work done by the crew at Grosmont in overhauling the engine looks brilliant and highly impressive. Credit to the effort and work they are doing that Repton will return in fine form.

Meanwhile for the list, I expect that NELPGs 63395 will continue to run this year, and that hopefully the J27 will return too.

Yh sorry about that, think it's right hand drive cos sumat tells me it might be an ex turkish 1. The s160 should be popular when complete, appears there's about 10 or maybe more of them over here.

Brilliant machines & easily 1 of the loudest locos I've ever had & the whistle can be heard from miles off!
