''Who's looking forward to our Autumn Showcase, 26 & 27th October? Our final hurrah of the season with all of the toys out of the toybox! The full working timetable is now out, so no excuse for not booking your tickets!
Making its gala debut, and still fresh out the box from a comprehensive overhaul by the team at Toddington, heavy goods locomotive No. 3850 will look fantastic hauling her first demonstration goods trains over the Autumn Showcase, 26 & 27th October.''

After 11 reliable years, one boiler ticket extension and many thousands of miles, stalwart of the GWSR steam fleet, No. 7820 'Dinmore Manor' is being withdrawn for overhaul at the end of this year.
The Autumn Showcase 26 & 27th October will be one of your final chances to catch a ride behind Dinmore Manor, so don't delay, book your tickets now at: www.gwsr.com/galas/autumn-showcase

Interesting to see all steam face south now, makes for interesting alternative shots. Anyone comment please, will platform 2 at Broadway be accessible for pre-departure shots of trains in platform 1?

Just the way it works out, I imagine when things go out on lorries next we might ask for something to come back the other way to even things up a bit, as we like to have a bit of a mix.

As far as I know Broadway P2 will not be open, as the building site is between the footbridge and the surfaced part of the platform, access could only be by the barrow crossing which we'd have to man. A bit much of a volunteer resource to allocate just for some photos. Sorry!

Annoying there are engineering works on between Gloucester and Cheltenham Sunday morning!

The first train doesn't get into Cheltenham Spa until 1111 and the last bus to RC from there is at 1105!

As posted on the GWSR page, 2807 is now in GWR black matching recently outshopped 3850....

I quite like the unshaded lettering, don't think there's been many other locos that have worn that in pres? Personally I can only think of 6697 at Didcot though I may well be forgetting something

    From the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway.

''As the sun sets over the Cotswolds, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us for our Autumn Showcase this weekend. Special thanks go to the dedicated organisers and volunteers who generously gave their time to make this event a success for all.

We bid farewell to our resident DMU, L425. Soon, it will make its way to a new home at the Bo'ness and Kinniel Railway in Scotland.

This was also the final gala appearance for 7820 Dinmore Manor for a while, as its boiler ticket expires at the end of the year, after which it will be withdrawn for its ten-year overhaul.

Visitors also enjoyed seeing the freshly repainted 2807 in GWR black livery, now a perfect match for 3850.

Thank you once again for visiting us this weekend, and we look forward to welcoming you back at our next event!''
    www.gwsr.com

We thoroughly enjoyed the gala. Many thanks to all concerned. <BJ>

Echo everything free2grice says, couldn't have said it better. Add my thanks to all concerned for an excellent weekend in good weather throughout. My wife settled down in coach Mary (the first class one!) for a good portion of each day whilst be fed with toasted teacakes and tea, all was well with the world!! Here's a selection from the two days of travelling up and down the line, hopefully to give a flavour of things.

It was certainly an excellent weekend, thanks to everyone that came and supported! Good to put a couple of names to faces too as always with these things. Was nice to give the DMU a good send off, and welcome 3850 properly and 2807 in its new guise. Weather was absolutely glorious, especially the Sunday, as I said elsewhere, clearly God approves of black GWR 2-8-0s on goods trains :) I enjoyed finding the time to walk down to Didbrook for an hour or so before my turn Sunday morning, 12 years involvement and first time I've been there of my own volition not as part of looking after a photo charter!

Spent a lovely day with my wife and dog at the railway yesterday. My wife's parents also joined us, having never visited the GWSR before, and were very complimentary about the railway and its volunteers.
They said that it felt like you were "really travelling somewhere by train".

We were also really pleased to see that, since our last visit, the cafe at Toddington has become 'dog-friendly'
It meant we could all sit inside in the warm with a cuppa and sausage bap. (It would've been far too cold for the in-laws to sit outside, so that's secondary spending the railway would have otherwise missed out on, other railways take note!).

Thank you!! The light was fantastic for that last run. Think anyone between Broadway and Laverton would have got something nice. But the going away glint was gorgeous.

I guess they've never been to the SVR or WSR then! With respect, I find this is a massive draw back for the GWSR in terms of me visiting on a regular basis, it just feels like there is nothing but fields around the stations.

Perhaps, but the views aren’t bad in places, I particularly like the Winchcombe-Gotherington section.

Their local line is the Chinnor & Princes Risborough, which while a lovely line with great volunteers, is by no means the longest. You're at the end by the time you've finished your cuppa. The GWSR gives a much longer 'ride experience'.

I haven't yet got them to the SVR (I'm working on it, but it's too far for them to travel in a day at their age), and they've only done the WSR on a railtour. The latter trip was on a really hot day, our steam loco had been replaced due to fire risk, and turned into a bit of an endurance exercise, so they didn't really get to appreciate the railway itself.
