And the shot I really went for, the background of Chester is very different from when I occasionally worked there in one of those buildings in the late 70s. 23D_0779 45596 Chester Roodee bw 160423.jpg

I'd hate anyone to feel left out though Matt - feel free to print it off and pin it to the dartboard.

Looking at rtt, there is a tail gunner on from Carlisle and a change from 60mph to 75mph after Beattock summit loop stop. Am I interpreting this wrong?

They say that sometimes there just isn't a path to allow the tail gunner to travel on its own. No, I am not carrying a flag for West Coast, merely pointing out that these issues are out there and we shouldn't always make assumptions.

At least this year there shouldn't be any twitchy-ness by NR Scotland over fire risk.

Possibly due to the ongoing work at Carstairs and capacity to Edinburgh.

Nothing - you simply give it added protection by putting a picture of an English Electric Type 3 over that of the Brush Type 4:):)

Another one from yesterday, 45596 restarting from the lengthy stop just short of Houghton Sidings.
Editing out raindrops is a tedious process.
(Taken from a foot crossing stile before anyone asks !)

What a wonderful looking loco. Rather strange that the smokebox and cabside numerals, along with the nameplate all match ;). <BJ>

Agreed. It sets the gold standard for a Jubilee in my view.

Yes a super loco. The driver on the Swanage train last year said that it was a very strong loco. Hopefully it will be allowed to run solo to Exeter on May 20

Let’s just say it’s the Northern equivalent of Clan Line in presentation and reliability, not that I have any vested interest in either engine!!

In the mid 70s two of the owning team, Russ and Steve, had a traction engine and it was always turned out immaculately.

Russ and Steve are still around. Russ had his traction engine back in 67 when I first met him and was persuaded to join what was then the Stockport Bahamas Locomotive Society by John Hillier and Terry Smith, the Shedmaste at Edgerley.
