THE brief revival of Furness line freight traffic caused by the Pendolino crash at Grayrigg is over — but hopes live on.

With the mending of the main line, Cumbrian company Direct Rail Services returned its daily running Eddie Stobart Tesco train to the main line.

But the Furness Line Action Group still believes there is potential for the future, if there are good enough incentives from the government to industry to get more freight from these parts onto the rail.
