Following her hugely successful return to the Dee Valley, Dukedog 9017 (in BR Black) will be operating for the last time on the Llangollen Railway prior to her return to Sussex at her home base of the Bluebell Railway.

She will haul 3 return trips each day, with normal prices applied for tickets. Operating to the C timetable (Departures every hour fro 1100 - 1600), the second steam locomotive in use is planned to be 3440 City of Truro before she returns to the Gloucester Warwickshire Railway following her visit for Steel, Steam & Stars 2.

I notice that 9017 is rostered on the Bluebell for the following weekend 9-10 May. Does anybody know if the engine will be operated without nameplates?

    Regards

It is entirely up to the bluebell as the whether or not to reattach the nameplates to the engine. It is after all there engines and although we have enjoyed having her on the Llangollen she must return home.

The Dukedog is a wonderful engine and I think the SVR enjoyed her as much as you have last year

I'll be there... Yet another firing turn. Can't decide which loco i'd prefer though, the dog is a beast, but Truro has a bit of elegance about her...

I was down in Llangollen today volunteering in the shed and before I went home managed to get this shot of the Dukedog alongside Large Prairie 5199.

Back to the Churnet Valley. She only returned for SSS2 and some repairs. Once those are complete it's off to Cheddleton for the rest of the year.

A very enjoyable day yesterday, plenty of sunshine, but not as much as forecast, 9017 seemed to have big problems with the fire with much "clinker" being removed at Llan before the 1500 departure. Nice touch was the different headboards used on both locos. This was my first chance to see 9017 in black, had to work all through ss11 and I must say it looked superb.

Many thanks to all wbo made this happen, and a special thanks to lil bear who arranged for us to have a tour of the sheds.

No worries, but you left just that bit too early! 9017 departed Llan with the ECS just after you left in full sun!
