My Dad literally walked into Pete Waterman at Didcot Railway Centre many years ago. We also saw and spoke to Timmy Mallet at Didcot.

Considering how many films heritage railways have featured in, the list is probably endless.

Pete Waterman did the same to my Dad at Bridgnorth a few years ago! Had a nice chat about the Super D and Walsall FC at the same time.
Paul Atterbury was rather charming at the same railway and David Shepherd was another rather charming gent I’ve met at the Great Central.
I’ve also met Les Ross behind a certain 86 on a WCME, ;)
I’ve also had the misfortune to be on the same train as Jeremy Hunt from New Street to Euston summer 2019 took rather a lot of self control not to lob cans of Jaipur at him...

I had an encounter with Pete Waterman a number of years ago at Pickering. He'd come to officially open/launch the Aitkens carriage shed there. I was finishing off a mug of tea, before going off to my post and we caught each others eye. And of all the mundane things I said/did was to offer him a cuppa with the remark...."I can sharp freshen the pot if you want one." His reply being......"It's ok mate just had one......" Having met him in the flesh, all I can say is if he was any more laid back he'd be on his back............

    Does Michael Portillo count?

If not, I briefly met Sir William McAlpine when he visited Woody Bay in October 2017 to launch the L&B's new-build Baldwin 2-4-2 "LYN", a few months before he died.

I suspect you of being a far better human being than I am.

Therefore I realise that my opinion that City of Truro is a shameless wind up merchant will find no favour with you.

But just read through a few of his/her posts. When under pressure the spelling mistakes vanish.

I remain, sir, your humble servant.

Trinny and Susannah came to the K&ESR to film something. The GM told the producer that he would like to welcome them when they arrived. He was told not to bother and it was obvious why. It’s was a long time since I’d seen a couple of people so far up their own ar**s that they couldn’t bring themselves to even say good morning to anyone. We had a Pullman car in the filming, with attendant steward in full Pullman gear. When he offered them coffee they completely ignored him. It was the first time I’d ever seen Harry lost for words.
