Something to combat the post-Christmas blues (or fill that lull).

Ecclesbourne Valley will be running a New Year steam gala with visiting 2MT No. 78018 from the Great Central Railway (which has already arrived to help with autumn and Christmas services).

    Lineup currently inlcudes:
    2MT 78018
    4MT 80080
    Andrew Barclay 2360 Andrew Harrison
And possibly the return of Bagnall-built Austerity 68012 The Duke following a 13 year restoration.

After 23 years, there is fire in The Duke's boiler once more. Steam test and formal inspection is scheduled for Tuesday, 19th December and all being well, The Duke will be in steam for the New Year steam gala.

Looking at the T/T, Duke is rostered to be on the Ravenstor incline will this be with brakevans?
It seems that two coach sets are in use, one is presumably the Maroon set what is the other please?

We made our first visit to the railway yesterday.

It's certainly a railway that appears to have made a lot of progress over the last 20 years, and plenty of potential still.

The incline with the Austerity and 31 was fun.
The line is very scenic, though a fairly stop start journey, with various speed restrictions, and having to deal with Annett keys for ground frames to pass and re-engine at Shottle, though I understand the signalling there is hopefully not far off.

A good friendly railway, and worthwhile event to attend though. Thanks to all those who put it on.
