    It was very much true. I remember the Carnforth colour show in 1968. Also, the KWVR and 5596 Bahamas being painted in LMS red after overhaul at Hunslets in early 1968.

    The equivalent of 4800 tins! I know at the time we all had the vision of a painter with a 1/4 in brush and a pile of little tins of paint. A shame that they didn’t get the colour correct!
