33056 is correct, diesel piloting Tornado to Wembley then r/r.
The thought this afternoon was a quick splash and dash for water at Kenny O.

By the Way, we're booked down the Windsor to Queenstown road then over to the down fast there.

Thanks Wayne. In all my many steam departures from Waterloo I cannot recall ever having done that. Extreme track bashers may be quite pleased with it!

I think that's normal for any Waterloo departure for the mainline the normal platforms are just not long enough

We are talking steam, in those more enlightened times they were signalmen!

I see there is a Honiton stop. Cue the possibility of an incredible fast start up to 75 mph! For big brother Don and others of our generation that might bring back memories of the attempts by various drivers on the record time to passing Shawford starting from Winchester in the last couple of years of SR steam. I can still hear some of the noises of a MN or Light pacific roaring past St Cross Box. Not from memory, but I think because it is still richocheting around the Universe! And that was on just a reasonable down grade, not like the very steep descent from Honiton to the West.

We have to let the 0800 to P'mth Harbour go ahead of us down the main before we can cross over at Queenstown Road. I don't doubt there will also be an incoming service that would prevent us going straight across to the down fast from P19 should we leave a few minutes late. But as has been said, on the day, sometimes the signallers change things. I have to say that 0755 from Waterloo would have been the much better option to get down to Basingstoke on the FL but it was not to be this time.

ECS with Tornado on the rear on its way from Wembley, diesel is 67005 not that I expect that anyone is interested (diesel is booked L/E back to Wembley then Victoria this evening to collect the return)
