Decision amended now to 1200 and area now extended from Penrith to Lockerbie, but I see that 6201 has left Carnforth more or less on time. Here hopes...

No one told the crew on 6201 as it went through Oxenholme at full tilt .

Looks like speed restrictions and/or signal delays all the way from Shap and platform space at Carlisle could be at a premium. The trains behind the CME seem to have been delayed for the moment at Oxenholme and Lancaster. Serious delays southbound from Lockerbie.

Looking at RTT, there does not appear to be anything using platform 3 once the CME arrives until after it leaves...

wonder if the CME was the last one through the section involved. National Rail Enquiries now saying all lines blocked between Penrith and Lockerbie. Trains for the north (wcml) out of Carlisle now being cancelled.

I don't necessarily trust the platforms on RTT but what about the 9S47 and the 1S46? But only 20 mins delay queuing up outside Carlisle in those conditions is very good going!

PS and to get out only 10L in the circumstances is even better.

Hello from sunny Carlisle. Difficult morning. Raw data:
Topped Yealand after sensible climb at 34. Mp13 64.4; Oxenholme 50.8; Grayrigg 44.7. 50 for everything from Oxenholme. Tebay Sth 54.2; Tebay Nth 50.9; Scout Green 37; Shap Climbing Summit 37 1/4 32.9. Bit good considering the gale force wind.

WCML disruption to continue for at least the rest of the day. Thankfully the train goes back via the S&C which at the moment is ok.

Nobody told me it was National Winskill Day ...

Shap Wells northbound and Kirkby Stephen Station on the return. A few "big" puddles in the Carlisle area to negotiate today. Sounds like this CME was quite fortunate to not get caught up in any delays.

Too right Ian. There's a blog being run in our local rag re weather updates and there is an entry timed at 4.35pm stating that trains are now running normally between Appleby and Armathwaite after flooding. 1st I'd heard of it.

Despite the horrendous Wind and rain 'Lizzie' puts on a fine display as it works the 'Cumbrian Mountain Express' through Greenholme with Mick Rawling
driving, Frank Chippendale on the shovel and Roly Parker guard

    6201 CME3b.jpg

I thought it was wet at Greenholme but this is Dent in an absolute downpour as 'Princess Elizabeth' works the return 'CME' south with Mick Rawing driving,
Rob Russell firing and Roly Parker guard
