Nice one, although a bit large on my screen so I have to look at it one bit at a time!

You've done well to make the diesel look (well sort of!) like an extra tender.

A Bulleid pacific taken from the Shortlands foot bridge by the waterworks?

Here's one I took earlier, 34077 on a down express. Must be the first half of 1961 as the world between London Victoria and the Kent coast came to an end on 12 June 1961.

Thanks. My aim was to get a head on shot to hide the diesel as best as possible, but also to focus on the main reason for capturing it (the discs and flags).
Your photo from 1961 is very insightful. Shows how much that spot has changed over the years!

I do like the Canterbury East sequence. A nice bit of railway infrastructure there.

Is that taken from Oxford Road Path footbridge please. And did you have to stand on anything to clear any wire netting etc?

It was the Oxford Road Path and no I didn’t have to stand on anything.

The Belmond Pullman leaves York this afternoon. 67005 Kings Messenger on the tail end, having been freshly painted and named in recent weeks.

Stratford seems an unusual starting point for a Belmond outing.

I believe the same trip happened last year too. Shame it doesn’t feature some element of steam, but I suppose it’s a bit far north for 35028 it’ll get a nose bleed!

Not a nose bleed. But once a Merchant Navy pacific heads north and those up there see what a real steam loco looks and performs like, it becomes almost impossible to get it back.

"Nah mate, don't go norf of the rivva at weekends, too much 'assle"

I assume Stewarts Lane was inaccessible due an engineering block last night, the stock went empty to Dollands Moor of all places. Nearest secure site to accept a 14 vehicle train I guess.

Having worked on Bullieds you’ll never convince me that their designer was ever of sound and sane mind. Personally I find them quite low ranking in terms of locos I’ve had the pleasure of working with.

Now if the Pullman were to come North with a superior GWR loco on the front, I’d have to say we’d keep that!

That first sentence is good copy as a social media throw away comment but isn't well informed. Think about who his mentors were during his apprenticeship years and also the brief he was given by the Southern.

That said, I know that some crews at 10A are less than excited when Tangmere is rostered. And it's rare for an unrebuilt to haul the Pullmans, that is what we are talking about, although it has happened.

Sorry I've been a bit slow on this one.

Here's an example I photographed earlier; July 2007 and heading East from Tonbridge.

Thought DB (in whatever guise they were calling themselves that week EWS I think) worked the VSOE back then.
