    Or Dundee Tay Bridge possibly.

I wonder when I last saw an A2. Maybe around 1962. Must have been one of 00/13/14/23/33. A difficult class for impecunious spotters.

Just checked my old Shed Directory. The shed title is Aberdeen (Ferryhill). So Aberdeen is correct.

Many thanks for the clarification. What this does raise however is why certain A4's have Ferryhill on the beam.....?

Given that the rest of the paint is wrong, who cares about the little fiddly bits? They may as well have painted Crewe on the front, it is in 2024 livery after all.
Their loco, I don't especially care... just saying...

Indeed, polished smokebox bands not a BR thing either... but they look good.

I really dont care about the historical piece, it was a flat question on detail. the A4's say Feryyhill so i was perplexed why the A2 is Aberdeen. Makes me wonder what the V2's assigned to 61B had.

These are 20th century machines running in a 21st century world. That anyone is gracious (or mad) enough to pile in the huge sums of capital required to make them run in a world they weren't made for should make us all grateful.

That being said, the blue is magnificent. I wouldnt want to see it in any other colour except some derivation of LNER Garter Blue numbering and lettering with BR Express Blue main coat.

Yes and no. Ferryhill was what was painted on the bufferbeams to distinguish it from the other Aberdeen shed (Kittybruster). Just like Tay Bridge not Dundee and Haymarket not Edinburgh etc. But I agree it is a minor detail.

And many late BR photos show no shed name on the buffer beam at all.
