And can't wait to see this replicated with 80150.

Different line, but ditto 80100. Useful locos, these.

    Simon,

Sensible indeed but there are instances over the years of real chances being taken, seemingly without ill effects.

Recently, in connection with her 140th anniversary next year, I have been researching the visit of L.B.S.C.R. No. 40 (now I.O.W.S.R. No W11) to Paris for the 1878 Exhibition. Basically, she was completed and had a days testing around Brighton before running along the coast to Portsmouth for shipping to Dieppe. From Dieppe she went under her own power to Paris where she spent some time demonstrating the Westinghouse brake.

    Would we dare today?

They'll never be any shortage of customers for a standard tank not tied to one railway!

This thread started with wailing and gnashing of teeth over the departure of this loco from the Swanage Railway. Will it be going back there?

Although no details have been posted on the Swanage Railway website, I think it's due to be visiting for the October Gala, after its stint at the Mid Norfolk and then the Spa Valley over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
