I just got my copy of Steam Railway Magazine, it arrives here in the US later obviously. Starting in February the Ollie's Schedule shall include 2 of the Winter Cumbrians. March is booked for one trip each Saturday. More of the same in Early April including the Great Britian Tour. May consists of one trip from St. Pancreas to Rowesly. Than in June 70013's schedule picks up again in with three trips on the 2,4,6 The Golden Arrow and a trip to Railfest in York. June concludes with a trip from Liverpool St. to Rowesly. In July a trip on the 7th takes Ollie from St. Pancreas to Nottingham. From July 20 to September 14 70013 is going to be based in Crewe along with 6233 and 5305 (subject to change).

This is a demanding schedule with the locomotive going as far South as Dover and as far North as Glasgow and Edinburgh. Well if the 5305 Locomotive association know that that Ollie is back in Prime condition 2012 shall be an exciting year without a doubt. Looking back at October this year maybe that is an indication for what is in store. The trip on the Swanage Belle and The Devonian w/6024 were both successful runs.

I see you say it is allocated to Crewe in July-August & September this will i assume be for RTC tours such as Scarborough Flyer, but as yet RTC have not announced their 2012 tour lists

RTC as I recall for the 2011 schedule did it right near the end of the year. But the dates for the whole Crewe pool have been set with July 20th being the First Scarborough Flyer and September 14th being the last.

The current full schedule for February through July-August-September are on pages 78-79 Steam Railway
On Page 80 at the bottom of the page is the current forecast for what locomotives are currently setup for the Crewe Pool. I shall be posting a topic thread "2012 Crewe Pool " shortly.
    Also 70013 is mentioned on Pages 8-9, 11, 76-77

Read elsewhere that mainline steam down south, London and Weymouth especially will be limited during the Olympics...
Guess that's makes several southern based locomotives more available in peak season up north this year.
Apparently 1 trip is booked to Weymouth and will run from Victoria with 35028.

You assume that just because Steam Railway say something that it is so?

I think many of us on here would rather wait for OFFICIAL confirmation.

Have you actually read a copy of Steam railway recently? There are a few people on here where the slight mention of Steam Railway brings out the same old comments of untruths, comic jibes and bad reporting and to be honest it is getting a little tiring. While there have been some clangers in the past, the last couple of years has seen some very accurate reporting, excellent articles and genuine headline stories of interest. I for one very much look forward to my copy and I think they have the edge over Heritage Railway which quite regularly has some very dodgy reporting. For example this month one report in HR has the RTC Tynesiders running, whereas another report a few pages later correctly gives they are cancelled... Given 70013 is also a Steam Railway appeal loco I would be very suprised if the information quoted isn't accurate, subject to the normal mainline last minute changes and caveats of course, especially as the source is quoted as being Tom Tighe of the 5305 loco trust, the loco's minders. How much more official do you want?!

I'm a suscriber and I look forward to the magazine showing up every month in the mail!
I have really been impressed w/ Ollie and I hope the engine is back in prime condition. Oliver put on a banner of fantastic trips 2008- early 2010. 2011 has been up and down. We all know that when Ollie is in top condition the locomotive is a great asset in the steam community.

I tend to like loud barking passenger locomotives and Ollie fits into that category.

Totally agree. I was fortunate to be on her first run up Shap in preservation where she was hampered by an emergency 20mph speed restriction halfway up the Lune gorge. The sound as she accelerated her heavy train up to 55mph from there to the foot of Shap bank will stay with me for a very long time!

Mark Walker made an awesome video of the engine heading to the Summit. He was filming just before the exhaust could be heard way before the engine showed up climbing to the top of Shap. From that point on I was hooked.

My memories of 70013 on a run from Victoria to Sheffield have stayed with me...

And another was waiting for it at Clapham... but I could hear it climbing at Battersea !!!

Is 70000 as noisy, personally I'm not as convinced.

I too look forward to my Steam Railway and also Nick Brodrick of Steam Railway is part of 70013's support crew.

Best experience of 70013 was flying through Haywards Heath though sadly its her sister 70000 that holds more memories such as the sound of her accelerating away from Haywards Heath which could be heard for a fair few minutes as well as climbing the Alps on the MHR both this year so I assume 70013 is just as great or better.

Anyone know where 70013 is right now, I thought I could see the back end of a Tender today across the tracks towards the National Railway Museum, York.

45305 was certainly at the NRM last monday (21st). I saw it along with its support coach parked up (facing south) in the south yard
