would probably need some running in first before any mainline trials....probably visit a preserved railway to do some gentle running in...

The MHR kids are slacking, 10 hours since Lewisb06's suggestion of running in Britannia on a preserved railway, and no mention of MHR being the only place on the planet to do said running in!

Logic would state that it would be somewhere within a short distance from Crewe.....

But there again they might suprise us all.
MHR could be a possibility....but if its not ready till Sept doesnt the MHR close down during the week and only run at weekends

Quite a few places. West Somerset (Hoskins already has Braunton based there), Mid Hants (Bittern is or was based there), Great Central (can do 60 mph trials ready for the mainline). I'd like to say Bluebell as if it was ready in time could appear with Ollie C at the Giants but i'm living in dreamland there.

Well she could run down and onto Bluebell metals via the new mainline connection :)

I'm sure she is meant to be visiting the Severn Valley for their Autumn Gala, so the SVR could work for running in...?

Seems a logical place to go to get a first ride behind her since her overhaul...

Best place to run it in would be the GCR. Both of them there for the October Gala??? I'm sure Steam Railway could organise that.

GCR said they were planning an LNER theme for their autumn gala, which 70000 doesn't really fit into if that is still the case.

Oh am sure that with a new coat of appropiate paint SR could make her a part of the gala

    Re: 70000 "Britannia" at Crewe

I think the SVR would be most appropriate, after all it was the locomotives first preservation home in the 1970's. Would be a nice link in to the 40th Anniversary celebrations.

I'll wait until next year for it to come under its own power to Giants of Steam at the Bluebell ;)

    Regards,

    Dan

Why not ? Its first allocation was to Norwich for East Anglian services - once a major part of the LNER empire

... And considering all the stock is 50s/60s livery mk1s, you don't get much more fitting for the eastern region than Brits on said stock!
