    Excellant news re: Diesel Gala.

I wish i could have attended the recent AGM as im sure i would have found this out ect as well as the other special events being planned.

Just have to wait for the formal confirmation via the MHR website for next years plans, thanks 21B for the info shared however.

After working lineside on the MHR for around twenty years. I’ve seen all types of people trespass on to railway property and the adjacent farmer’s fields. Rail enthusiasts and non rail enthusiasts. I don’t think you can just put it down to the general public that's unfair.

It's too early to say really. I'm trying to ensure a good mix of both EE and Sulzer types, and I'd like to include something "push-pull". As soon as I have some ink on some contracts, I'll let you all know.

Point taken. Some people are just pig ignorant and just turn a blind eye to the rules whether they are rail enthusiasts or members of the general public.

Seconded. With 37905 and 50027 there is already a good start.

I've heard that 33053 is U/S at the moment. Can enyone confirm if this is the case and what the matter with it is?

It would also be great to hear how 45132, 27007 and 33208 are coming along. There was nothing about them in the last MH News and would appreciate any update. I don't expect any of them will be ready in time for next April?

With regards to 50027 running on the 13th October, great news. Haven't had a chance to travel behind it ever, either on the mainline, MHR (1st incarnation) or the NYMR so can't wait.

As my 5 year old son would say; "Bring it on!"

33053 is currently not serviceable, it was stopped for an electrical fault that causes it not to restart when warm. Discussions are continuing.

45132 is making slow and steady progress, but I would not expect it to be running next year.

27007 is also making slow progress, but the bodywork repairs are extensive and a detailed assessment is awaited. It needs a lot of work.

33208 still needs a considerable amount of work to return it to service.

37905 should be returning shortly. I believe it will be visiting the SVR gala before the paintwork is attended to and it comes back south.

If 33053 can be fixed before April then the home fleet looks great for a gala. Just need to add a few visiting locos.

Thanks for that update. Much appreciated. Definitely looking forward to seeing all the above over the Alps once again. Who knows, in 3-4 years time, a diesel gala will be ready made with a very impressive home fleet.

    Thanks again.

IF there is to be a Diesel Gala on the Mid Hants I would think that it will be done at Minimum cost to the railway and use those locomotives already resident there and servicable at the time... I see no point in bringing in locos just for the sake of it.

The resident diesels are not given the chance to run rostered services at the moment so are just as rare for enthusiasts as locomotives being banded about as potential ideas.

With the potential for locos to cost more to bring in than the possible profit from such an event it would be better not to spend money the railway doesnt have unless a sposor could be found to cover such cost?.

From small beginings Oak trees grow so lets not give people the chance to say " Its Didnt Make Money Were Not Doing it Again ! ".

We have over the years had all the main diesel types run over the line at Galas apart from I think a Class 52 Western and Class 26 ? . I know we have had 20/25/27/31/33/35/37/40/42/45/47/50/55/56/57and 59 I may have missed one no doubt.

No great shakes, but do you know what set will be behind Lion this weekend? I'm somewhat expecting to see the RAT in the formation somewhere!
