Are you suggesting a gala with 4 cromptons? Would make an interesting quadruple header up the bank out of Swanage!

33208 was in reasonable nick when 71A Group were prevented from working on it by Happy. "There's nothing you can tell me about diesel - electrics". He wasn't wrong there, he wouldn't listen!

The only way any diesel will survive on the Mid Hants with be with a privately owned one that has its owner in regular attendance and can be monitored and stopped when things need to be done to it.
Not as it usualy happens when it breaks ! (I can humbly talk from experiance here)

Saw a HST set heading into Paddington with 4 power cars a few weeks back... 3 on the front, 1 on the rear, though the leading "proper" one has failed and was rescued and towed the the front pair.

Update has now been posted on the MHR web site regarding test running of Lion. Can't be to long now before she works her first service train. Something to look forward to.

I'm not sure the exhaust was much more coloured than that sometimes seen coming from a certain 4SRKT.

Lion did the job. No drama no fuss. Well done to the team working on it over the last few weeks.

That brings back memories of the times when the evening LPG train from Furzebrook could be 33 x2 or indeed 37 and 33 combos. Readily recall one night with a 33 towing ailing 37 and trainup Parkstone Bank! Loud and nice - Dick

I`ll get shot down for this by the MHR steam only brigade, but it was great too see that 50027 was allowed to help out on the Thomas the Tank event albeit in a limited capacity.

Lets hope that those that go lineside, stick to the rules and dont trespass on the MHR or their neighbours. If everyone is generally well behaved on the day, then i think the MHR will start to build up a bit of confidence to consider a fully fledged diesel gala next year and further running days.

Incidentally i heard on another forum that 37905 is to return now that she has been repaired, can anybody from the MHR confirm this?

I still see the miss information regarding lineside trespass on the MHR is being perpetuated .
There were incidents at both steam and diesel galas which caused the current and continuing situation. I still have to escort people off the line who are NOT railway photographers just members of the public who want to stand next to the track with their I Phones to take pictures. We will never win.

Unfortunately some members of the public are the main problem. They are ignorant/unaware of the fact that you cannot just stand next to the line and take photo's inside the fence.
Seasoned railway photographers are not the problem.

Perhaps I should have said fenceside rather than lineside in my original post and made it clear that the current situation is due to problems at both steam and diesel gala's in the past.

The intention is that there will be a diesel gala next year. The date pencilled in is 26th to 28th April.

Regarding trespass....it isn't just diesel galas that have caused issues, but it would be great if there were NO issues on the 13th...would certainly help the cause.
