Where've they found a Stanier 2-6-2T? Kept that a secret but that's Carnforth for you. :)

It's those secret shed roads underneath Carnforth MPD... saw it once.. it's a real noah's ark of locomotives. :) .. those Patriot boys will be kicking themselves when carnforth brings em all out for use :D:D:D.. Back in 1962 Steamtown started secretly burying locomotives under the shed... that Ash Tower.. is really a secret lift going down below

It's number dislexia when it comes to oil burners... anyway at least I got the fact it is a class 40 correct, I think, from the CFPS.

Thats Didcot... Do you really believe one shed can produce so many new builds...
they are really buried beneath the coaling stage... how else did they get a gradient / embankment so high without burying a few locos under neath it.

The amount of ash just got too high.. they covered the locos over.

    :)

On a serious note anyone remember the BR58 at Wolsztyn that was slowly disappearing under a pile of ash ?

Is that a Ty1 in PKP parlance?

Yes, last time I saw it though it'd been dragged out of the shed line and moved up past the signal box, it's getting a bit rotten on the platework and the rods had vanished.

Was last at Wolzstyn on New Year's Eve 1999 (or maybe New Year's Day 2000 but the about of vodka consumed that night has dulled the memory) and she was in the shed yard looking quite good but no doubt much has happened in the ensuing 14 years.

It's changed a lot since then... I'd suggest you hang on to the faded memories ...
my own more recent memories of Wolsztyn aren't as good as my older ones...it's lost a lot this century.

Indeed my most recent memory of real steam hauled freight is in the US of all places...Strasburg railroad has upto 3x weekly steam freight, runs as required, loads as per demand, shunting the stock.. takes for ever.

    Fantastic..

the 40 looks so much better than that large logo blue it was wandering round in.

We need it down south next please ! - southerners like 40's too.
