It was hauling passenger trains on Tuesday 27th June, saw it at Pickering running round. Looked very, very smart.

It's out today - I saw it on the Grosmont webcam earlier. It does look smart in the EWS livery but would suit the NYMR image better in BR green imho.

Yes, it seemed very odd to see it in EWS livery In preservation, smart as it was!

The reason for its EWS livery is because it was the only class 31 that ever carried the complete livery. 31255 was also painted in the base livery but never carried the logos or number at the time, as the repaint was to test the new paint shop at Toton.

466 and 33030 were repainted for the Open weekend at Toton in 1998 (the 31 possibly being done at Allerton? ) as an aside with D6700 in green being posed with 66’s 3, 4 and 5 literally just off the boat I did overhear some NED complain to a steward about why he couldn’t see 66002 until it was pointed out ‘yeah it’s still in America mate’

Also note that 31466 was specially painted for the Toton Depot Open Day in 1988 as a prime exhibit for the event held in May of that year.

Sad to see it go, we were looking forward to seeing it back at the DFR, but onwards and upwards and the length of NYMR will give it a chance to stretch its legs.

Indeed, which makes this 31 unique - therefore it would be a shame to see it painted anything different.

Drives well, had a driver experience on the East Lancs a few years ago.
