'Coastal Railways' Behind the Scenes Photos

The Talyllyn Railway was recently featured in the Wales to Liverpool episode of ‘Coastal Railways’, presented by the wonderful Julie Walters. The series takes us on a journey round Britain, exploring our weird and wonderful coastal railways and the characters to be found on them.

During this episode, Julie was given a tour of the Talyllyn by Tracey Parkinson, our previous General Manager. Julie also took a trip on No 2 Dolgoch’s footplate with father and son crew David and Thomas. There's some lovely old footage featured, plus some drone filming so you can see the Talyllyn and the local area from a different angle!

The programme also featured the amazing views along the Cambrian Coast line and a visit to our friends at the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways.

While they were filming at Wharf Station, Barbara Fuller took some ‘behind the scenes’ photos. Not all the filming made the final cut.

This episode (as well as the previous three) is available on All 4 for 30 days from 17 December 2017 via the following link: http://www.channel4.com/programmes/coastal-railways-with-julie-walters
