2015 December - Loco Working Party

Up at Pendre, progress continued on the winter loco maintenance.


The volunteer gang put back the ashpans, firebars and gauge glasses on No1 Talyllyn and No 2 Dolgoch. No 2’s new stainless steel smokebox floor (thanks Rob!) was fitted which meant the blast pipe, blower ring and other bits could be put back. No 2’s brakes were adjusted and greased, and the well tank was washed out, removing lots of gunk from the bottom of the tank.

Other jobs included smokebox painting, motion cleaning and wiping buffers ready for repainting. Hopefully our Fletcher Jennings ladies will be ready for steam testing soon.

The Paint Shop is being cleared out ready for the impending improvement work. It’s been an opportunity to get rid of a lot of accumulated rubbish! Our current major renovation project, Van 22, will return to the North Shed for a while, albeit in much better condition than when it left.
