Some phone pics from yesterday at Hellifield (up loop). [ATTACH] Tangmere sporting the "V" headcode - I rather like it. [ATTACH] Much has changed in 80 years. Tangmere and the coach had not been built, the station would have been in LMS...

I think Clan Line is kept in that super-shine condition because that is what the rather prestigous company who use it from time to time to haul their Pullman train wants.

I didn't mean looking really run down, like at the end without nameplates etc. Just everyday grime that showed they were proper working engines, and not museum exhibits. Even when the railway had plenty of cleaners, they didn't look like Clan...

There is too much LMS outrage on here and I see the usual suspects jumped to the defence of Stanier when actually I never even mentioned his name or his locos in the post. Can I politely mention to those in the North West that there is more than...

Methinks @RalphW doth protest too much. No class of loco is immune from having its valves set not quite right. Plenty of videos on here, of various classes of loco, demonstrate uneven exhausts. On the other hand some are very regular. I don't...

  10. Nick C liked Jonnie's post in the thread Spa Valley Railway - Latest News.

A bit of an update in the world of Spa Valley. We've had a very busy year so far, albeit compared to some attractions or other railways these figures aren't quite as large. So far this year we've carried 20,596 visitors and that has resulted in...

Trains had decent loadings, not as packed as I expected. 1130 ex Swanage left about 10 mins late due to late inbound service and delay extended to about 20-25mins this afternoon. Cracking gala.
