46115 arrived early at Southall tonight (1opm), turned on the greenford/west ealing triangle before arriving.

RTT has 1hr 12mins from Sharnbrook Jn to Manton Jn. I reckon by car no more than an hour inc 40mph on A14 Kettering bypass. to the climb after Manton before Oakham. alternatively use A45 & A6116 thru Corby (all 40mph) to join A6003 at top of Rockingham Hill.

Not risking any mix-up between the fast line or slow line at Souldrop foot crossing, just going to Bedford Station instead. I'll have my Dad with me so i can get 2 different shots from 2 different advantages and my mother photographing it.

46115, seen flying up Sharnbrook Bank & Saluting the GCR, which was swiftly followed by a passing shot at Loughborough Station.

Great video. She was getting a hefty shove up Sharnbrook though.

Cheers, unfortunately, there was a bit of a push, but it didn't really diminish the spectacle to badly.

Nice day for it, and was above to do some preparation for this one, so here is my SG efforts.

First shot of the day was just outside Wellingborough, I knew it would be cruising here, but this spot was chosen for its sun behind fantastic long curved approach. I also guessed it would be crowded, so rocked up early - check out the group photo at the end!

Then it was a quick evacuation and a fast drive through the Welland Valley past the Viaduct (there were gricers perched in fields everywhere, like flocks of birds) to a spot just after Wing Tunnel. Didn't have that much time to prepare, and SG was ahead of time, so I forgot to turn off my mobile.

Anyway, some very deft and careful driving required here on the slog up Wing to Manston, track conditions were pretty bad, and you can see much work by the driver to keep the show on the road. At one point you can see and hear a quick shut off followed by a blast of steam - sanders or drain cocks not sure but good work by the crew to keep the momentum up

Apart from the phone issue - I am pleased with this outcome.

Oh well. Lincoln day manager decided it was much easier to turn the whole train rather than the loco so those of us at the back on the way out will be on the back on the return. Came as a complete surprise to the water tanker as 46115 ended up in a different place to that planned. Not happy.

My effort from this morning's outward run. I was very relieved that the sun did eventually come out for it, as it looked as though it was going to be a bit of a gloom-fest! It did, however, go back into cloud a few minutes later...

And it doesn't seem like 52 years since 46115 used to storm through every weekday on a diverted St Pancras - Manchester working; even better was crossing with 46106 (with its unique smoke deflectors) just north of Kettering on the southbound working.

Thankyou! Seems to have been touch and go for a load of people, judging by what I've seen posted here and there.

    Cheers,
