This event is taking place over Friday 6th June to Sunday 8th June 2014. I went on the Friday, although there was no steam running on the Friday there were plenty of hydraulic power.

There were two visitors to the line for this event: D821 Greyhound and D1015 Western Champion. Also running were WSR based D832 Onslaught, D1010 Western Campaigner, Hymek D7017. ‘Teddy Bear’ D9526 and the DMU.

    Here's my video:

Excellent video Keith, makes it doubly annoying that we couldn't make it! Memories of our West Country holidays in the 1960's. Our next trip to the WSR is the October bash, thanks for sharing.

Thank you very much. I was brought up with the hydraulics and remember their early days at Laira. Regardless of the current internal issues in the WSR the view to the punter is still one of a great experience. It's a wonderful line to visit.

Yes, also a Plymouth boy in the 60s, this event is for me a must and has never disappointed. I went up on Thursday for a steam 'warm up' with three steam locos in action, then Friday was devoted to riding behind all the different hydraulics. The crossing of two Warships at Blue Anchor was a major highlight for me, as was a ride behind D9526 with time for a quick snap at a couple of intermediate stations.
