    Lovely to see the first mainline steam of 2014 appearing in the distance and speeding ever closer. I was also hoping for a touch of contrast from either the District Line or London Overground. In the event, luckily both played along:

    At Albury in the Surrey Hills. dull light but the rain held off, no diesel and I had the crossing to myself.

    Thanks for this, Mr. K. Wonderful sound. Since moving to Gloucestershire, I've come to appreciate GWR locos a lot more, particularly the excellent No. 5043, but a clip like that reminds me why I'll always be first and foremost a Southern man. You can't beat a Bulleid!
