    A shame but could have been far worse, every time I see the word landslip now, I'm fearful of something of SVR/Glos Warks proportions until I read the story.

    I agree not on the scale of of the damage sustained at the lines you mention, but severe enough to cause a major headache for the SDR. Doubt if they will be able to assess the extent of the damage to the line and trackbed until the tree is cleared. The Dart has been running quite high during the last week, the ironically named Overflow Car Park was flooded earlier this week !!! so I hope the river bank has not undermined the track. I had commented to a volunteer at the railway, during one of my many visits this year, about the number of trees and the vegitation that had been removed from the lineside. Hope they can soon get it sorted.

    Yes, I was relieved to see the slip was land onto the line and not line into the river, however, as has been mentioned, the Dart was very high on Christmas eve when I drover over Riverford Bridge near Staverton. Lets there is minimal damage to the formation. Another violent storm underway in Devon tonight.....
