Neil - I hoped the Barry List 5th edition might help but it is in numerical rather than physical order. What i can say is that the folowing 2-8-0s are listed.

    Churchward 2800 class numbers 2807, 2859, 2861, 2873, and 2874

    Collett 2884 class numbers 2885, 3802, 3803, 3814, 3845, 3850, 3855 and 3862,

I am more of a Southern suporter than GWR but I am sure someone can list the difference between Churchward and Collett versions to at least halve the probabilities.

I think the 2-8-0 might be 3802, as it was sent to the Plym Valley with a high sided tender which this one is next to in the photo

The tender that accompanied 3802 after it left Barry was purchased from Swindon works if I remember correctly.

Certainly a 2884, and clearly being very actively worked on. How reliable is the photo date? 3822 left in 1976 so presumably not that one. The next to leave was 2885 in 1981, and no more until the end of 1983. A search for 2885 images on google reveals this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEGATIVE-35mm-GWR-2885-IN-BARRY-SCRAP-YARD-SOLD-WITH-FULL-COPYRIGHT-/390634936013?nma=true&si=hWOn8ku8%2FCnl%2F49fHN1lufpDFKc%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 which is almost identical, so assuming that identification of that photo is correct then its 2885...
