Bit of an odd request, but looking at stag do options for next year and following a superb week in north Wales, am currently looking at doing it either on the Welsh Highland Railway and/or the Ffestiniog Railway, as I know there are good pubs at Rhyd Ddu, Beddgelert and Porthmadog (Spooners!), but can anyone suggest any others close to the railway on these lines?

Would also be interested in a Vale of Rheidol line option but apart from pubs at Aberystwyth not aware of any pubs at a walkable distance from the line?

    Cheers!

We could also do you your own reserved carriage or your own private charter with ex L&B carriage 14 - the one with its own bar - and a choice of locomotive.

The VOR has Pubs near the line at Capel Bangor which is in the village of the same name, which is a gentle walk from the station. There is also another one above the station of Nantyronen in the village of Pisgah but that is a trek! Other than that the Hafod Hotel at Devils Bridge.

The new pub and motel, :The Starling Cloud' ( Marstons), adjacent to the Welsh Assembly buildings on Park Road, has good food and ale. The rooms were decent too.... £55 per night, B&B.

The Tynllidiart at Capel Bangor it worth a visit. It claims to be the world's smallest commercial brewery and is not too far from Capel Bangor station. Hafod at Devil's Bridge is very pleasant. You are spoilt for choice of pubs in Aberystwyth!
