I have just discovered that my Flickr site has been "updated", I've tried to have a quick look around but its seems to have totally changed, certain pages load at snails pace! Has anybody else encountered this?

Everybodies Flickr site has apparently been updated with a new layout amongst other things from today - personally it is absolutely awful and this is being polite. If nothing else, it puts me off from using it or looking at other people's flickr sites! For further info check these two links out:

What the **** is this **** FlickR?! it's hideous and totally unnavigable!

I'm also told elsewhere apparently that the pro accounts are being discontinued from August and everybody will be put back on a Free account, only now full of adverts, you can however go "ad free" (what I assume to be pro equivalent) for $49.99, IE double what your paying for pro now...

So to summarise, new crap looking and totally unusable layout and at least a 50% price hike, think I'll be off to Smugmug or Zenfolio etc unless FlickR realise what a huge mess they've made, the hatred for the new layout seems almost unanimous too.

Sorry to disagree but I think it looks much better , that is if I could see my photostream !

the old look was dated , all these little thumbnails . It now has a magazine format to it which I quite like

Afraid I have to disagree Martin, on my photostream the new format takes far too long to load in this new format, half the photo's don't load first time and what really bugs me is the complete lack of any captions on display unless you physically open the pic.

Layout might be acceptable if your on a mobile phone or or 9 years old, but to someone trying to do half decent images properly via a PC, it just makes your efforts look cheap and nasty.

Most Smugmug, Zenfolio etc sites I'm not too keen on the layout, however I have seen a couple of Zenfolio sites where the layout is much better (Clive Hanley's in particular) suggesting you can make it look nice, so I think I'll have to do the free trial on that and see, certainly seems attractive as their pricing is pretty much the same as FlickR under their new pricing.

The feedback to Flickr about the new format is 99.9% totally against the new format, with many saying that they want the old layout back. If they could combine the new improved resolution with the old format that would be a compromise.

I have to agree with david1984 I dislike the lack of captions and discriptions unless you open the particular photo. Why "fix" something that was very user friendly

The Android app is a lot better than the previous one. Haven't tried the main site yet though.

My photostream won't load up at all and I can only see the sets that I've made. Tried it on several computers now and it seems to be a recurring thing. Anyone else had this problem?

The new layout is blooming awful IMO. Looks like it was designed by a five year old, except that wound be insulting a five year old.

Have to say I'm not keen - very slow to load. Also, with the limited photos I've published, for me the captions are as important as the photos (I'm no visual artist, but like to use a sequence of photos to illustrate a story). Yet in this new layout, the captions are almost invisible unless you start scrolling. I'd prefer smaller initial photos, and the option to enlarge those of interest. Now, where have I seen a design like that before? Oh yes, on Flickr, until yesterday...

I think it looks OK, though it now loads slower than ever, if at all and there does not seem to be a layout editor function anywhere. Thing that worries me most is the possible price changes, I really can't be bothered to change website again (after losing fotopic) so I am stuck with them.

I had a look before at some of the comments on the feedback page and it had got to around 120 pages in around 20 hours, mainly extremely negative. Now it just doesn't seem to load at all and neither do the links in signatures from some of the posts above such as 8A Rail and David 1984. Perhaps they are having a rapid rethink...

I had issues this evening with seeing my photostream, photos and stats. Seems to have improved in the last hour though.

I think it's OK apart from the time it takes to load. My Pro account had 15 months to run, so I've downgraded to free - I've had the email acknowledgement, but we'll see if the refund turns up without being chased.

Has anyone tried looking at the "upgraded" sets ...try mine! .... this is another aspect that would have been better left alone. Try to read one of the longer descriptions.....
My photostream takes an enormously long time to load, and I don't like the black background and wasted space with the top banner. There are other faults, imo, as well.
The help forum has been filled with over 95% negative comments / feedback /bug reports.

Don't like the new layout but if you click on the "edit" button in your home page, it returns to something much more like the old layout.
