Ecclesbourne Valley Railway Steam Extravaganza in May includes Gala 4-6 May

The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway will be operating steam services between Wirksworth and Duffield in May.

We shall also be having a gala on the May Bank Holiday weekend 4-6 May with three locomotives in operation.

GWR 0-6-2 No. 5643 will be visiting the line during May and promises to be a spectacular operator on the 8½ miles at 1 in 100 from the midland main line at Duffield to Wirksworth.

In addition, our second restored Barclay "Henry Ellison" will be returned to service and formally rededicated on Saturday 4th

All our services connect with East Midlands Trains' Nottingham and Derby to Matlock service and you can buy though tickets from EMT stations to Wirksworth.

Will 5643 be the only engine working between Duffield & Wirksworth over the bank holiday weekend??

As far as I'm aware the two Barclay's will operate around Wirksworth and 5643 will operate the Duffield line with our 3 MK1s and the Royal saloon. And in addition we plan to have an on-train Bar inside the BSK serving alcoholic and soft drinks on all three days.
