Here's a few shots from Haworth MPD as they get ready for the impending gala.

Problems with working within the constraints of an awkward computer programme...I've removed it for now, it can go back Monday

    - All engines in Haworth Yard lit and ready to go ... see you at the Weekend

The Old Man and I had a really good day on the KWVR today. Rode down from Oxenhope behind the WD - WONDERFUL to see it back - and 78019. Then we rode (slowly) out of Keighley behind 78019. I had a feeling that would be an interesting start, but she seemed to recover most of her time back up when we passed her later at Damems loop after paying a visit to Ingrow West

We both really enjoyed the tour of Haworth shed at 12 noon, the Tour Guide was very entertaining - don't let the letter writers get you down! Sad to hear more work is needed on TVR no 85 and I hope to see 957 back in steam some day soon.

Thumbs up from the Old Man and I. Next stop the WSR in a few weeks, can't wait!

My efforts from today (Saturday) can be found here: steam on heritage lines -
A reasonable day all in all. Played war with the sun a couple of times but better than yesterday!

Excellent visit today, with crews working the locos hard.

    Well done to all involved.

The various double headers were well received and it was great to sample the WD on the 1620 after being missing for 2 years.

80002 did a good send off on the express.

Warm trains, friendly staff, trains mostly to time - nothing more to be said.

Went to the Worth Valley yesterday. Had a different itinerary to what I usually do when I visit the Worth Valley on a Gala day.

Mainly just went up & down the line travelling in the Jubilee Bar sampling Timothy Taylor's Boltmaker. Managed to get a full line trip behind 78019, the 4F and Standard Tank 80002 (which may be the last time before she is withdrawn for overhaul).

But would like to say a big thank you to all staff & volunteers at the Worth Valley for putting on another great Steam Gala.

I await in anticipation to what the Autumn Steam Gala will bring.

Once again hoards of 'freeloaders' lineside with no trace of a permit, just get a hi-vis and all is ok, lots cheaper too. Really really annoying.

An interesting observation. Can only speak of my experience around Oakworth on Friday when all linesiders (including myself) seemed to have current passes on display.
I guess part of the problem is that staff already have their hands full on gala days without checking every linesider -- and of course it depends where folk gain access to the line

I noticed this too throughout the gala whilst out and about lineside (I have a current pass) and I must say I was left quite angry by it. The number of people without permits seems to be increasing at each gala and I can only say that I had some difficulty restraining myself from telling them. But it is also refreshing to see so many with passes to make up for the few who are freeloading.

Anyway it was such a brilliant gala. Plenty of action taking place and it was great to have 90733 back, especially to see her on the goods on a beautiful Saturday morning. 78019 seemed determined to start as many lineside fires as possible during the weekend, three I ended up putting out but it was nice to see a Standard 2 running on Worth Valley metals again. Thanks to all involved for another great gala, can't wait to see what's in store in the Autumn.
