Next inevitable question: do all locomotives face Rawtenstall smokebox first?

I think they all do. Braunton was definitely facing North when she was last in traffic back in December. Same with 80080, 47324 and 49395. Unsure about the two Fives. I think 44871 was facing Rawtenstall yesterday but not too sure about 45407.

Update. 44871 is definitely facing North looking at pictures from yesterday and several images on Heritage Painting's Facebook page indicate 45407 in Buckley Wells facing North nearing completion. (Directly in front of 34046 in the shed and both facing North)

I can confirm all locos face north, 44781 was turned at castleton when returning from svr. Big thanks to Ian and all those involved in turning the loco.

black5 - Until the locomotives are confirmed, do you not think it best to keep speculation to a minimum?

Looking forward to this, I'll probably be up on the Saturday. Braunton is a cop loco for me and it's always good to pay my respects to the Grand Old Lady (49395) - a personal favourite. I heard somewhere that she comes out of ticket this year, can anyone confirm when and how soon, if at all, she will run again? Always good to see a couple of Black Fives too, where is 45337 at the moment?

I won't make it early enough for the freight run pasts but hopefully the freight rake will be run in and out of Bury Bolton Street during the day as I've seen on other occasions. I do like to have a nosey at the wagons, makers plates etc whilst sipping a pint of something dark and frothy from the trackside bar.

49395 has just had a 14 month exam, which will be the last for this boiler certificate and it will come out of traffic around this time next year.

45337, so i'm told, is currently undergoing maintenance at Llangollen before going back down to the North Norfolk.

    Thanks,
    Lewis

To my knowledge it is the intention to run the freight run pasts then bring the freight back to Bury Bolton Street. I am not aware of any intention to run it throughout the day.

    RE : Friday night shoot.

As I am sure many are aware the met office are forecasting heavy snow for Friday but they can not at this moment in time tell us when or where the snow is likely to fall .

Based on this we can not make a decison as to if the night shoot can go ahead until Friday morning and this is reflected in the East lancs web site.

Participants safety has to be our priority and of course you can not take time lapse pictures in falling snow.

We are sorry for any inconvenience but we hope you can understand that we as organisers are in a difficult situation as the Met office can not be more precise. Indeed on the 0845 broadcast Carol Kirkwood on the bbc said that " there is still uncertainty about the timings "

My own email adrees of elrnumber1@gmail.com is always answered as it comes directly to my phone.

Once again our apologies but we are at the mercy of the met office, on Monday they showed no snow for the area but with their usual caveat of keep your eye on the forecast !

I will post on here as early as I can on Friday morning.

Based on the weather forecast I have had no choice but to cancel the night shoot on Friday evening. The morning runpasts are still scheduled to go ahead as planned.

I am sorry to dissapoint but health and safety of everyone has to be my priority, and of course its just not possible to do lenghy exposures in falling snow.

I have not taked this decison lightly , my original plan was to assess the sitution on Friday morning but the met office are forecasting heavy snow and possible travel disruption so I have to make the decision as early as possible for everyone.

Thanks a lot for the update, I was intending to be there for this nightshoot but I can certainly see the reason for cancelling looking at tomorrows forecast.

Thanks for your understanding Neil, Cancelling anything that has been advertised is never taken lightly but as you say the forecast is so severe that I was left with no choice. Peoples safety has to be my first priority at all times.
