PS Kingswear Castle returning to the Dart

I read in today's Western Morning News that this coal fired paddle steamer is coming back to Devon and will take people on the Dart between Dartmouth and Totnes next year. No doubt she will be missed by the good folk of the Medway towns, but I look forward to a river trip on her.

She was built in Devon and left in 1965. Welcome back!

Will certainly make a round robin trip more interesting!!

 

Kingswear Castle will be missed on the Medway, but (despite living in the Medway Towns) I think that this move will be good for the vessel.

In recent years the cruises had mostly been very short and poor value for money. In addition sailing from the enclosed environmnent of the dockyard has made access seem to be difficult. Actually it was not difficult, but perception is everything in marketing.

I wish all involved the best of luck and thanks for the opportunity to cruise the Medway.

 

Good news for all concerned, the PSPS, Kingswear Castle herself, Dartmouth and the DSRRB. I understand she should get into the Dart tomorrow in the afternoon. A good BLOG on the DSRRB website.

 

I believe she will be doing a mini river/harbour cruise 3x daily for part of the year and in July and August will be doing Dartmouth - Totnes trips as part of the Round Robin. She should be in service at the end of March.
