    As it was gaining popularity at around this time, Linoleum sounds like a sensible bet for the compartment flooring. - The addition of a removable rug is an interesting thought though!

    Ok I stand corrected! I do remember needle-gunning the solebars on the first Met (394) we did about 1990 and red oxiding it, undercoating and then painting it black before somebody tactfully pointed out it should be brown...and then running for cover!

    I think you might have overlooked my post where I state for a fact that the original drawings specify lino. There is no need to place bets on this subject!

    There is a big difference between belief and fact. - Are you saying you have seen a construction drawing of a Cravens built 'Jubilee' carriage specifying lino as the floor covering?
