60163 'Tornado'. Ipswich to Bristol. 1st Dec. 2012

Saturday, 1st December, 2012. 60163 'Tornado' with the Cathedrals Express from Ipswich to Bristol and return to Wembley yard.

An afternoon of sunshine forecast for the west country tomorrow ....we shall see. <BJ>

 

Will be going to Bristol tomorrow after seeing 6201 (obviously, if you are around, please do say hello! Orange trainers and the gold/bronze coloured tripod give me away!), and am looking forward to seeing 60163 up close. As F2G has mentioned, the weather looks fairly good, although the sun is now only forecast for about 3pm. Let's hope it stays like that!

Hope she gets through ok, looking fwd to seeing her around Bath in the lovely Winter sunshine we've woken up to this morning !

 

Don't panic!! Tornado reported passing Canonbury West Junction 9 mins late at 0952. <BJ>

 

Just passed Gospel Oak at 10:04 so a small delay. Didn't go out to catch it but heard the engine from my back room and saw the steam and smoke out of the window. Would have gone out but waiting for the postman to deliver a model Blue Pullman.

 

Tornado passed Iver @ 1105.

 

Tilehurst 11:49, just enough time for me to get to the platform to catch my train to Reading!

Arrived at Challow 12.28. Not sure if this is just a pathing stop as there was no water tanker present.

 

Passed Uffington 12.56.

 

Corston 14:01 after a reported 13 min stop at Bath. Not certain but appeared to be load 14. <BJ>

Just passed 46201 at Swindon. Wantage road might be a little busy!

 

Just seen 60163 pass 6201 at Swindon. Wow!

 

60163 flew past 6201 at Swindon at 18:02, probably hitting 75 - simply incredible!
