What is going on? Maybe I’m missing something or there doesn’t seem to be too many hot topics at the moment?

    Is everyone on holiday?

Are the Administrators limiting my access to the controversial threads?

I never thought I’d ask this, but where’s Frank when you need him! lol

Why not suggest swapping 5043's tender with 5593, and removing the copper bits, paint it LMS red... Afterall it could genuinely have happened.

That will fire up some forum interest...

At 50p a mile - 5043 from Brum to London on 13/10 is much closer and, NR permitting, promises to be a highlight of the autumn schedules. I'll be there.

Massive number of cancellations Ben, only Vintage Trains seem to be running everything. Great fan as you know even if it means 5am starts from home. Thinking seriously about booking for the Pannier Trip. I know its going to be 0910 off Tyesely (ah a lovely lie in!) but what time back Ben?

    Thanks

    Don

When I clicked on this thread I thought that someone was suggesting that the title of this section of the forum should be given the apostrophe it has wanted for years... if anyone could add said apostrophe it would make my year ;)

I am expecting a return to Tyseley Depot around 7pm...but that really is an educated guess....with the emphasis on "guess" and "educated" in very small letters!

With a possible 7pm arrival back at Tyseley it does seem to me that the "Pannier Rambler"could well be climbing "The Lickey" in the dark as it will be dark soon after 5pm on 3 November. The fact the most intersting bit of the trip may well be in the dark is the sort of thing that can well turn people off booking. Would it not be possible to get this train timed earlier to ensure a daylight run.

    I said 7pm was a GUESS!

We will do everything we can, but with the 45mph Panniers we are completly at the mercy of timing slots. If we are given a choice, we will of course do the Lickey in the daylight.

But also remember that we need to make sure there is sufficient time for the passengers to get off in Stratford and Worcester for photos and to grab a bite to eat - remembering the comments from prior Pannier Ramblers! We also need to service the engines.

We are working on a "surprise" for the return leg as well. Don't even think of asking me! It's a surprise!

I cannot see why the Lickey in the dark should be reason to put passengers off, OK so on board videos may not be too good, did I hear a muttered 'thank goodness' from someone, oh no he's been banned, anyway surely it's the noise that counts. A few linesiders may be upset, but the run is not for them is it.

Obviously not a train timer Ralph. Yes it can be done in the dark but its a heck of a lot harder than in the daylight.

Not a timer by the milepost method, if I do want some times/speed infor I tend to use a GPS datalogger and netbook, and then peruse the results at a later date.

Some Class 47 haulage from Worcester is my bet, Panniers shunted off into the depot.
