That sounds about right to be honest, basically a coach difference in most place, interesting they were allowed 5 tons less Exeter to Newton Abbot though, what with those challenging gradients along the sea wall

So what was the weight of the 9 Mk1 and Mk2 coaches on Sunday, roughly?

Not really checked, just held back to ensure we did not meet the red signal on the bank like 70013 and 5029. The acceleration when if came was a little late (no idea why) so only 40 mph through Totnes.

To answer another question I make it 318 tons tare, 339 gross.

About a minute early back to BTM this evening. Another great run to Par - thanks to all involved!

Nice day following ‘The Royal Duchy’ yesterday. I was also at Largin, certainly was a difficult re-start in the rain / mist. Hemerdon however was dry and 34067 made a superb climb, I would be very interested if anybody has speeds / times for the climb.
Hopefully I will edit the video tonight or tomorrow.

Largin is quite impressive by the look of it actually, I know HST's and 37's have come to grief there this year in poor railhead conditions.

Good to see '67 proving the naysayers wrong and working the RD in fine style. Thanks to those for sharing their pics and video.

Just watched various videos of 34067 on this run. I am impressed. When putting all the power to the rail she can certainly fly along (and up and down the UK railway equivalent to the Himalayas!)!

With 70013 definetly out now, is 70000 now down for this or is another loco being sourced ?, keep in mind 34067 and 4464 are otherwise engaged.

As reported in the Oliver Cromwell - Cylinder problems thread, Ollie is not available for this week's Royal Duchy.

UKsteam shows 34067 as the alternative motive power. That's going to be a tall order for the support crew, since Tangmere is hauling the final leg of The Mayflower on Saturday evening, arriving back in Paddington at 22:07 (if it's on time) and back on-shed at Southall about 23:00. She then needs her fire cleaned and remade, all the other servicing done, presumably a new FTR exam and then make a light engine move down to Bristol to arrive there by 08:00.

A possible alternative is for 70000 to work The Royal Duchy (since 4464 is rostered for The Torbay Express), provided of course that a support crew is available, an FTR can be arranged, and a contract with RTC agreed. 70000 will also have been working The Mayflower on Saturday, but (as with 4464) she comes off that train at Taunton about 18:30 and returns to Bristol that evening, so slightly less "midnight oil" needs to be burnt to prepare her for work the next day.

Passengers and spotters alike will have to wait and see what turns up on Sunday morning - just like the old days. ;-)
