Glasgow subway are consulting on new byelaws which would ban photography on their network. The consultation paper is linked below, I would suggest people with an interest in rail photography register their objections to the proposal

How ridiculous, such a ban would be practically impossible to enforce, how does anyone know whether you are checking emails, texting or photographing on todays mobile phones...

    Reply can today....

It is Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) who is promoting the new Subway byelaws, therefore you should direct any questions you have to them. Only formal responses to the consultation should be directed to me. The contact at SPT is terry.lynch@spt.co.uk

    Regards

    Joanne

So she took the time to reply to me when a click of the foward button and correct address would have been much easier........

Email today obviously in response to the one I sent regarding the photography ban.

Response to Consultation – Proposed New Glasgow Subway Byelaws

Thank you again for your comments on the proposed new byelaws.

Having considered all the responses to the consultation and taking into account (i) the surveillance and security measures now in place and (ii) the increase in number of mobile devices with cameras, SPT has agreed that the prohibition on filming and photography within the Subway should be removed from the proposed new byelaws.

The Conditions of Carriage relating to Subway travel will also make it clear that sensible photography is welcomed on Subway trains and in station. A full guide to SPT Subway filming and photography is available on SPT’s website.

On behalf of SPT I would again thank you for taking the time to respond to the public consultation.

    Yours sincerely,

    Valerie Davidson
    Assistant Chief Executive (Business Support)
