GWR Pannier tank is set to be relaunched this April as London Transport L99 when the Spa Valley Railway reopens for the 2010 season.

The engine is currently in the shed at Tunbridge Wells West having its paintwork rubbed down and primed in readiness for the application of undercoat.

The engine will be launched into traffic over the weekend of 24th/25th April at our annual Steam Gala. Details can be found in the Gala forum. As the railway has a number of former LT rolling stock items, we hope to be able to offer a number of cameos with the engine. This is a livery that has not been seen in preservation for a good ten years and it has come at just the right time, as 2011 will be the 40th anniversary of the end of steam on LT metals.

Hope to see many of you in April.

    Matt

I think he means in addition to 7752, are any of the LT Panniers likely to be used in anger on 'home' metals or it is just scheduled for Met 1 currently ?, 7752 would have the advantage of being able to arrive/depart the national network in addition if required.

I think there's been talk of 7715 being used for the mini Steam on the Met event next year, but no mention yet of 7752 - it would be nice to see a pannier railtour around the London rail network next year, even if not officially part of the 150th celebrations.
