I think if anything it was a good job it made Cleethorpes rather than fail in section and irritate NR/The local TOC.

On a side note, was that the first steam train up the dinnington line since the end of steam?

I have lived in Anston almost all of my life and my dad who is in mid 70's likewise, neither of us remember a steam train coming our way.

I could be wrong but did the B1 pass over the line a few years ago ? someone mentioned it yesterday at Maltby.
Just looked back to Sat 1st April 2006 it was with 61264.

Sounds to be in real trouble at that point. Always thought RTC heavy reliance on 70013 could be an issue if reliability became a problem, and with quite a few class 7 and 8 locos out of action at the moment, cancellations could be on the cards.

As for the video clip, the location of the clip does nobody any favours....

If you have a look at his other video at that location there is a tatty fence which he was probably just leaning over.

Agreed. It's a well known spot where the road is right next to the line and easy to film over the fence but as usual guycarr360 cries "foul" without, I suspect, ever having been there.

Ah yes, but he might be prepared to turn a blind eye to trespass on any tour(s) starting from Newcastle:behindsofa:

A source informs me that a Stanier 8F was on the SYJR during Lincolnshire Poacher 2004, so its likely to have been Mr Smiths 48151 however I have found no evidence yet, so still looking. Re the failure, sounded perfectly OK past me at Brookhouse but by Kirk Sandall, definitely the knock-of-death for all to hear as per YT video quoted. Hope its not terminal. TB1

After having a chat with one of the loco's support crew at Cleethorpes station this afternoon, the loco has been repaired (the piston rings had failed on the left hand side cylinder, and have been replaced today with the loco cold), and is now fit for traffic once more. However, since the loco is starting a tour from Cleethorpes next weekend, there's no point in moving the loco far, and is staying at Cleethorpes until Friday, when it will move to Barnetby to join the stock for the tour (brought down from Carnforth behind a WCRC diesel loco). I suspect that the WCRC diesel may have to run to Cleethorpes to collect 70013 & it's support coach (I don't know if the crossover at Cleethorpes station is workable or not), and bring the 2 to Barnetby via Ulceby (turning the loco round to face the right direction for Saturday's tour), so 70013 can be serviced ready for the trip.

What, repaired already? here was me thinking it had a cracked cylinder. Perhaps people should;d refrain from posting if they have no idea themselves rather than just spreading ill informed internet gossip.
