Does anyone know if the sheds at Loughborough are open during the weekend or if there are any TPO runs or turntable demos during Sunday?

Just to confirm all the locals will carry passengers as far as Rothley in the Up direction although some are scheduled to go non-stop through the station to Rothley Brook where they will be re-engined. These trains will then stop in the Down platform at Rothley for passengers to alight or board before heading back towards Loughborough. Hope this makes sense! Also as now confirmed on the website the O4 should be appearing in BR livery.

My reading of the timetable is that only the 6:03pm TPO run and 5pm turntable demo are Saturday Only. The other three instances of each occur on both Saturday AND Sunday.

    But I could be wrong...

All locals operate Loughborough - Quorn - Rothley, however some will pass through Rothley non-stop in the UP direction, and call at the station in the DOWN direction. All guards should be aware so we shouldn't have a repeat of the Mail by Rail gala where a newly passed out Guard emptied his train at Quorn and proceeded to Rothley ECS!

In addition, the final TPO and Turnstyle movements will be Saturday Only

That's what I gathered from the timetable that the last 2 TPO runs were Saturday only but I wasn't sure. Should be a good gala. Great to see the roster as well, think the GCR was teasing us all along :p

Thanks to whoever made the decision to publish. Having said I wouldn't go unless I saw the roster, that published shows what I wanted to travel behind (46521 and 78019 in a pair) is taking place at 10.40, I can also get a full line trip with the M7. The GC will therefore benefit from my father and I's £44.

Bearing in mind they are virtually identical, is this the first time that an Ivatt 2 and a Standard 2 have double headed in preservation? Or did 78022 find its way to the East Lancs or the Valley when it was serviceable?

    Would you count 41241 and 78022? :)

Glad to see so many comments in favour of the published PTT diagrams. It's nice to get a good reaction from doing something right from them that pay for us to play!

Apologies if I've missed it somewhere in the thread but can anyone confirm which was the locos currently face?

    Hi Matt

With the new turntable it's not easy to state what direction locos are facing, or will be facing during the gala. I think the bigger locos (such as 70013 and 30777) are fractionally too big for the turntable anyway. Both these face south at the moment so I guess they'll stay that way.

Im in Loughborough on Thursday so I'll aim to have a peek over the wall at the shed and try to report back on what's facing which way.

My thought was the ability to compare the 2.6.0's, both in black to see what visual differences there are. Pairing with the 41241 was interesting but will be much more interesting when the Bluebell finish converting 78059 and it's paired with that!

That's great most appreciated. Whilst the turntable is obviously a great coup for the railway, has the potential to throw a curved ball for photographers!

No they're not. As far as I can work out it'll turn pretty much any steam loco except a Duchess.

Ok thanks for that - I didn't realise that it could take the bigger ones.
I saw the 8F being turned on the first weekend of operation of the turntable and there was only a few inches clearence either side. Good to know that the bigger ones & pacifics can be turned too.
(I suppose with a Duchess it's just a case of seperating the engine and tender and turning them seperately - albeit with a shunting manoevre. Anything is possible!)

Because lots of trains are going to stop at Quorn, remove loco, turn it,reattach and continue to Rothley/Loughborough??

    Thought so.
