Kingham: Not sure about 82046 as a follow-on, but I do recall hearing the tender version mentioned, ie a 77xxx.

(Only as the politicians say an "aspiration", nothing formal or planned, usual disclaimers etc etc....)

Indeed, I believe the production of a 77xxx could be on the cards, subject to the usual disclaimers as they say, depending upon how well 82045 does. There is no question that 82045 will run, it's just when.

Just as soon as someone wins the Lottery!!

82046 will be much cheaper with all the patterns available and the invaluable knowledge gained from building 82045. We have recently been contacted (and joined) by a draughtsman who worked at Swindon on the 82XXX`s. How brilliant is that?

I had the pleasure of meeting him when he visited our Bridgnorth work-site on Monday. A very interesting and knowledgeable gentleman.

Once 82045 is completed and in regular service could there be a good commercial case for a large merchant bank to bank role the building of another two or three more 82xxx loco’s. Then lease them back to preserved railways in the same way class 66 diesel locos are leased to Freight Liner and other main line operators.?

Nice idea but I strongly doubt there's anywhere near the financial return in it to make it of interest for any non-enthusiast. As people say, the only way to make a small fortune from steam engines is to start with a bloody big one.

I am sorry that I haven't yet been able to get over to the SVR for a day out and to see 82045 for real but I concur with the onwards and upwards comment! More of 82045 appears each month and it just keeps looking better every time!

Looking good! Thanks for the link to the update. This project looks more like a locomotive with each passing month!
