5043 The White Rose to York and Back

5043 is going to meet up with 60019 and 70013 with Vintage Train's White Rose excursion.

5043 shall be arriving at 12:45 giving passengers a little more than 6 hours to spend in York. Departure from York is at 18:03
Comparing York arrivals and departures with RTC's White Rose trip 70013 shall pull into York at 13:10 and depart at 17:10 with Bittern
It shall be an interesting Day in York!

It should be a great day.

 

Given those times 5043 will be well gone from the station when the Brit arrives and vice versa later in the day. They may be visible together during the afternoon at the NRM servicing area but that's not guaranteed.

At least Hudson's - the best buttie shop in Britain will still be open for late orders or you can spend the afternoon at York Brewery or the Maltings

 

..... although at the bottom of those UK Steam times it suggests that 5043 isnt taking the coaches to Holgate sidings until 13.18.

Upcoming moves
Thursday 15 - Friday 16 December: No.4492 Dominion of New Zealand will be arriving in the North Yard for coaling. It will leave around 15:30 on Saturday.

Saturday 17 December: At around 14:00, No.5043 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe will be in the North Yard for water, and will leave around 16:30. No.70013 Oliver Cromwell will also be arriving on Saturday at around 14:00.

 

Not forgetting the York Tap on the station.

5043 made a noisy departure from the old station at Masborough Junction arrived early but left bang on time 11.32.

5043 at Royd Moor today:

Really unlucky here as the sun had been out for about half an hour and popped behind a cloud just as the train came into view. Also, I suspect it was one of the few spots for 5043 where the light and wind were from the same direction, that is, if there'd been any light. Still, not a bad black and white...

 

Works brilliantly in monochrome!

 

Once again, seen on the return a couple of miles after Derby. On time going well.

 

Always a pleasure to see "The Earl" oop north, took this one at Ackworth.
