Thank you Mr T. I got enough strange looks from the walkers at MD with my tripod in hand, without waving to them as well (wink wink say no more !!!!)

    Thanks for replying Bill,

There are a few input areas but having looked again at the Manual it doesnt mention a Mic input socket anywhere.
The light next to the mic is just a small beam that can be switched on Manually or set to Auto.
Fur seems worth trying, thanks again.

We seem to have wandered far from the Buxton trip again - shouldn't this discussion on mike's etc be moved to a photo/video topic?

You may well be right on that one. It was certainly the case in Nov 1966 with 41204 on a MRTS trip when we went straight through from Millers Dale to Chinley then onwards through Didsbury back to Man Central.

I was on the footplate of 45407, last Saturday, and we did remark that it was unusual to see the double pegs both 'off'. There is no particular reason why they shouldn't be (Great Rocks box is the end of the single line section from Buxton), although the steam last run via Peak Forest, last February, was delayed at Peak Forest, by a stone train being let out right in front of the charter. The traffic there is busier that one might imagine.

The last 'down' BR steam train was 70013, hauling the Midland Centenary, on 09/06/68, which, even as 4-year old, I remember seeing pass Hathersage.
