I'm old enough to remember this ghastly colour when it was in service. The Railwaymen of the time preferred Olive Green and most of them were glad when BR Green was applied. However; they were sad when the blue was taken off the Merchant Navy's as they liked it a lot and thought it was a very good livery.

    Aren't they always?!

Yes it would be nice to see a bit more variety. I always thought it was a shame that Manston wasn't restored in SR livery, considering that it was the last loco built by the Southern Railway.

Given the Mid Hants Railway's obsession with BR liveries, it's a nice surprise to hear that 925 will be keeping it's SR livery.

Earl of Mount Edgcumbe in Malachite?? Oh no no no.

Actually I'm not a lover of Malachite but an un-rebuilt does look good in it.

imagine then if all the regions had kept their pre nationisation non wartime liveries, you would have got standards being turned out in LNER blue, or apple green , Lms maroon and southern green , as well as the black liveries

Yeah looking at old pictures the Merchants do look good as built and in Blue but I don't mind Malachite as it suited 21C123 and 34081.

I thought a couple of the preserved pre-34071 unrebuilts were restored with a wider cab, so they would need narrowing? I must be dreaming again...

I must be dreaming as well. Seeing as how Mr. Hosking has a Rebuilt West Country(34046), Merchant Navy(35027) and one other Merchant Navy(?), Purchasing Blackmore Vale may not be a bad move. I'm just dreaming though and I know it.

35022 Holland-America Line is his second MN. I doubt he'd be able to purchase 21C123 unless the Bulleid Society gets wound up or is in severe straits. I would have thought that he'd go for a BB to complete the set, particularly as unrebuilt 34073 is still sitting at Bury gathering rust (and presumably still for sale). There were rumours of a positive future for this locomotive earlier this year, but I haven't heard anything since. It would be nice to have another mainline-registered unrebuilt Bulleid, though. I suppose we'd better wait for 34092 to emerge on the scene before that happens.

    offer?

From 'The Bulleid Society' that has owned it since '67 and also own a rebuilt BoB? I highly doubt it. They are from what I can gather a very well organised group.

34007 has a hight sided tender body constructed (see 34007 website for more details - http://www.wadebridge34007.co.uk/PicsFiles/w91.html) which is awaiting the completion of its frame (with new BFB wheels) which would make Wadebride and ideal candidate for a lick of yellow-green paint, especially as she is the earliest unrebuilt light pacific around.

I believe that she saw service in SR malachite green, BR malachite and BR green all with the narrow early style cab pictured here. (see -http://www.wadebridge34007.co.uk/PicsFiles/002.html)

I prefer BR green myself but surely a malachite green/early cab combination would be great for a period before a change back to early BR livery, this combination of cab style and liveries has never been done in preservation before.

Also didn't 35028 run as 35012 United States lines briefly before?

Not so. Ex-SR Battle of Britain No. 34059, Sir Archibald Sinclair is owned by the Bulleid Society.

I am afraid you are wrong. 34059 is owned by the Battle of Britain Locomotive Group. The Bulleid Society own two locos, Blackmore Vale and the B4.

I thought the Battle of Britain Locomotive Group was part of the Bulleid Society.
