May I ask why Nunlow was carrying the wreath on Saturday? Forgot to ask when I was there.

Yes I am an active volunteer
Went to Worth Valley yesterday, and as always had a great day out. Slight disappointment to the day was hearing that the 4F was having problems and may not make an apperance. However, on my last round trip before going, I was so happy to see it attached to the front ahead of the Ivatt Tank 41241 where it went to Oxenhope & back to Keighley. Also got to ride behind the Ironclad loco 957 with the vintage train, Black Five 45212 and the visiting GWR 28xx 2807.

Does anyone know what the dates will be for the Winter Steam Gala next year???

A very good visit yesterday, despite the almost constant drizzle.

Many thanks to all involved in putting on another excellent KWVR gala.

Time keeping was very good all day, yes the loco roster went out of the window, but these things happen.

I was pleased that my gamble of changing trains at Oakworth (1610) produced a swap at Haworth loop with 957 replaced by 43924.

I then managed a run to Keighley and back up to Ingrow with 43924/41241 before having to head home.

45212 was on great form, sad to see it bow out of service.

Star of the show was 2807, the bonus appearance of it on the 1505 express did not dissapoint.

Looking forward to next year already (February?)

    Best Regards

Yet another superb gala, congratulations to KWVR.
Well done to the staff for repairing 43924 and returning it to traffic in the late afternoon. It gave a very account of itself on 2010 from Keighley on the SUB set.
As always 957 was the star a 124 year old loco performing above expectations for something of its age.
Pity about the weather but well worth leaving home at 0300 Saturday and getting back at 0200 Sunday.

Many thanks for the kind comments about the Gala.

Patronage for the Gala has being good, plenty of passengers about the Railway to enjoy the sights and sounds.l

As reported elsewhere, the 4F developed a problem with the firemans side injector Friday evening. The engine was taken out of service, repaired and made the Saturday afternoon runs.

The wreath of Nunlow was for John Tait of BLS, who sadly lost his battle with cancer last week - he was a lovely bloke, many on you who venture of the mainline will probably know him, will be sadly missed.

If anyone would be interested in letting their photos be used for our future promotional material (especially the KWVR engines) can you PM me! - thanks in advance.

Winter Steam Gala is going to be a cracker! 12th, 13th & 14th Feb 2012. "Return of the LNWR Coal Tank" & "LNWR Super D 43995".
