Yesterday was the J15 65462's last day in traffic before being withdrawn for a full 10 year overhaul. Hopefully she'll be back working again sometime next year. She's seen here arriving at Weybourne on her last working, the 17.35 ECS working from Sheringham.

A sad day as 65462 is a top favourite of mine.

I do hope she returns next year and celebrates her big birthday in steam.

RIP - when you know and appreciate wht those initials mean, you would never use them for a mere retirement pending repairs!

Lovely machine! When she visited the K&ESR she looked so at home.... standing at the platform at Tenterden she could almost have been mistaken for an Illfracombe Goods!

For once Frank I'm in 100% agreement with you. The use of RIP in this case is fatuous.

Lots of engines coming out of traffic at the moment. 5542 is one plus 45212 and 5553 soon, and No.49 at Tanfield.

I was lucky enough to be on the footplate crew for it's final day, the weather was perfect for it's final day. It's those sorts of days that I will miss (for now) with the open cab and the cool breeze coming off the sea while coasting (excuse the pun) along quite happily without a care in the world.
