Awesome gala. Thoroughly enjoyable weekend for both volunteers and visitors. Highlights has to be Manston Saturday night or just the N2 in general, what a loco! Who would think it's only rated as a Class 3! Next year will have to be something special to beat that.

Best Swanage gala I've personally experienced, I was fireman on 6695 friday on the goods... Seen being overtaken in fine style by the M7:

Fireman on the N2 on the Saturday morning... A shot taken from the footplate as we romped up the bank out of Corfe with our train plus the deadweight of the A4 doing nothing on the back, she took it like a good'un, letting everyone know she was coming audibly!

And Fireman on the M7 Sunday Afternoon/Evening, still my Swanage railway personal favorite:

A selection of my shots from the weekend on and off the footplate are on my flickr page starting here:

Only just got back home last night after 'tagging' a week on elsewhere.
Have to say we thoroughly enjoyed our first Swanage Steam Gala calling in Friday and Sunday whilst having a Rover ticket all Saturday and travelling until abut 10.00pm. Just hearing the A4 etc in the dark was superb.
The line, Loco's and people were great, we plan to return next Year.

FYI anybody thinking of going to the SR tomorrow (Wednesday) could do with checking before they go, as according to my local radio traffic news diesel services will be running, but for the moment steam services are still due to be suspended due to a gas leak:

I saw no point in starting a new thread hence why I've bumped this one.

Swanage Railway Service back to normal on Wednesday 26th October 2011 after Gas Leak on Tuesday 25th October

At 10:30 am this morning, the Swanage Railway's Commercial Manager, Martin Payne, announced:
"After yesterday’s drilling through a gas main in Victoria Avenue Swanage we are pleased to announce that Swanage Railway is now able to run full services again with alternate steam and diesel train departing Swanage and Norden every 45 minutes.

There are also brake van rides in Swanage station, entertainers on the steam service and at Swanage station and face painting at Corfe Castle."

    Cheers
    Keith Morgan (Swanage Railway webmaster)
